Influenza Summit World Asia marks the start of World Vaccine Congress 2013, 17th – 20th June in Singapore where we understand the public health impact of influenza in Asia and the implications of influenza viral evolution and global spread.
The chairperson of the Indonesia Influenza Foundation, Cissy Kartasasmita, will be presenting on “Preventing zoonotic influenza infection through continued surveillance of swine and avian influenza virus”. Professor Cissy has just completed a 3-year study on Human – Animal interface on influenza in collaboration with The Children Hospital, University of Colorado Denver, sponsored by CDC Atlanta. She is also a member of the Imunization Task Force of the Indonesia Paediatric Society, Indonesia Technical Advisory Group for Immunization (TAG Indonesia) and Asia Pacific Alliance on Control of Influenza (APACI).
At 2012â€²s Influenza Summit at the World Vaccine Congress Asia, Rita Kusriastuti, Director of Vector Borne Disease and Control at Indonesia’s Ministry of Health’s adelivered her presentation on "Enhanced Influenza Surveillance for H5N1 & Seasonal Influenza in East Jakarta District, Indonesia” The east Jakarta district is a potential high risk area for avian-to-human H5N1 virus transmission as it is a major entry point for poultry shipments into Jakarta.
