Carlos Slim Health Institute is a non-profit organization created in 2007 to develop and fund programs aimed at helping to solve health problem in Latin America. Dr Miguel Betancourt-Cravioto, Director, Global Solutions at the institute joined us at the World Vaccine Congress Washington 2012 to discuss their work and their success in putting into action health programs in Latin America. CASALUD, an example program, aims to act as a model to strength quality of care and the capacity of health personnel in primary care. Technical innovations within this program include: ViveSanoNet and Diabediario.

Â· The Carlos Slim Health Institute is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the health of the population in Latin America and elsewhere, by investing in sustainable public health solutions in maternal and child health, nutrition, and immunizations among other topics.
Â· Through a series of alliances and initiatives, we are working on supporting governments in the region to achieve the MDGs related to maternal and childhood mortality.
Â· We are working in several projects dedicated to expand the availability of vaccines to address the challenges of infectious diseases including emerging and re-emerging diseases.
