How do you go about selecting the right partner for you in one of the new Emerging Markets? Local knowledge is always key in finding the right people to work with and understanding culture, mentality and capability will help you have a more effective relationship.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Rajiv Sharma at the 12th annual World Vaccine Congress Washington in April. Mr Sharma in the General Manager for Contract Manufacturing at India's leading research-based health management company.  Panacea Biotec is the 2nd largest vaccine producer in India. Panacea Biotec has been ranked as the 3rd largest biotechnology company (ABLE Survey – 2011) and is also amongst the top 40 (ORG IMS TSA MAT March 2011) pharmaceutical companies in India.

Mr Sharma's talk focused on the following points:

  • CMO shopping: What are the selection criteria of a global pharma
  • Cultivating relationship and maintaining a win-win collaboration
  • Managing cross-culture CMO partnerships
